Here are links to some valuable web sites for ESL teachers and
English learners.

|
|
ESL Support Sites
These sites offer downloadable teacher
resources, chat rooms, job listing, and other information of value to ESL teachers and students.
|
Ebooks for computers and PDAs
These sites offer ebooks.
Some, like Project Gutenberg and Internet Public Library, offer public domain literature free of charge. Others charge a

ESL software
These are some useful programs for English
language learners. Rostetta Stone is the best program I've seen for beginning and intermediate students of English. Instant
Immersion is useful and inexpensive. Ace Reader is a programmed reader that was designed to teach speed reading, but it can
be a useful suplemental program for English learners as well.

Publishers of quality ESL materials
Corwin Press is my
publisher. Check out Structured Immersion, by Johanna Haver. Her philosophy and approach are much like those advanced in
my book. Oxford University Press publishes many fine English teaching materials, including the Oxford English Picture Dictionary
and Carolyn Graham's Jazz Chants. At Sopris West check out Rosalie Pedalino Porter's description of effective ESL programs,
Language and Literacy for English Learners 7 - 12.
